Koudelka Karo Vase

Frantisek Koudelka was a talented creative glass designer, but who is largely known for one set of pieces commonly called the ‘Pineapple’ series which dates from 1970. These featured a range of vases and dishes some of which featured the famous hobnail texture and others like this example which are smooth in texture but shared the same shape. The pieces are like no other pieces of post war glass and come in various colorations. The technique for making these works is quite specific-they are hand blown through a wooden mold thus given them a uniformity of pattern whilst retaining their essential handmade nature. This Karo example is very scarce these days and is offered in excellent order. Self recommending to the collector of rarities and Mid century classics.
